Shi Painter's has many features that make drawing much easier. This section should cover most of Shi Painter's features.

The Canvas & Zooming - The blank white space in the middle is the canvas, or the area you draw in. On the bottom and right of the canvas are two "bars" that you can click and drag to navigate around your canvas. You should also notice that in the left and right bottom corners there are two small squares, one with a "+" in it and one with a "-". The "+" zooms in on the canvas, while the "-" zooms out.

Sometimes, Shi Painter may glitch, so when you navigate around the canvas, lines will appear. You shouldn't worry, though, since the lines will not appear on your picture when you submit it. The lines should clear up if you minimize the window and re-open it, zoom in or out, or press "undo"

The General Toolbar - The general toolbar is above the canvas. It has five options: Upload, float, redo, undo, and fill.

Upload - Pressing this saves and sends your image. This doesn't mean you have to be completely finished with your image, though. You can always revise later.

Float - This option will take the canvas and give it a page of its own as opposed to a web page with an address bar, scrollbar, etc.

Redo - This only works if you have pressed "undo" at some point during drawing. It basically undoes the undo.

Undo - Pressing this will undo, or erase, your last stroke. If you accidently press this, you can click "redo" to bring your stroke back.

Fill - This fills in lines with one flat color. This is often not the preferred method of coloring.

Color Tricks -

Eyedropper - Right click to pick up any color under the cursor. I've found a neat trick is to hold down Right Click while you move around. and watch the Size&Palette window to find the shade you like.

Layer/eyedropper remix- sometimes findin that right shade can upset you. just needs to be a bit brighter or darker. well this might work for you. Place down your base color, then on a layer above it place a lighter color down. Use the slider bar for the transparency until, you find the color differnce you like. Just right click this and now you have a light shade picked of the same base color.

Palette Layer - Create a new layer just for your colors as you use them just place down a new dot, keep this on the top layer. hide when you need to work under it.
